First launch of their Jielong-3 was at 0635 UTC Dec 9, 2022 from the Tai Rui barge in the Yellow Sea near 123.7E 37.3N Jielong 3, also identified as Smart Dragon 3 (SD-3), appears to use the same lower stages as ZK-1A. It is able to lift 1.5 tonnes to a 500 km sun synchronous orbit while sporting a 3.35 meter diameter payload fairing, wider than the ZK-1A fairing. The identifier "SD-3" is written in large letters on the side of the Jielong 3 fairing. The first three stages are solid motors. The fourth stage is a solid motor supported in a frame that also hosts a liquid reaction control system. CAS Space, spun off from state-owned Chinese Academy of Sciences, developed Lijian 1 (ZK-1A) to serve the small satellite market. It is a four-stage solid propellant launch vehicle able to boost 1.5 tonnes to a 500 km sun synchronous orbit, or 2 tonnes to a 200 km x 40 deg orbit. It became China's most powerful solid propellant launcher with a successful inaugural launch on July 27, 2022 from Jiquan Satellite Launch Center. New Launch Pad 43/130 at Jiquan hosted the launch. "Jielong 1" = Smart Dragon 1. 4-stg solid fuel rocket. Uses mobile TEL. 19.5 meters x 1.2 meters, 23.1 tonnes GLOW, 150 kg to 700 km SSO 200 kg to 500 km SSO. Stg 4 mounted above the payload, rotates 180 deg after separation before igniting. "Jielong 3" = 4-stg solid fuel rocket. Same lower stages as Lijian-1 (ZK-1A). 2.65 m diameter. The first three stages are solid motors. The fourth stage is a solid motor supported in a frame that also hosts a liquid reaction control system.
